Creative and Social Media Work

I’ve had the chance to work on a lot of different projects over the years for a lot of different brands, including for myself. Here are some samples of my favorites.

Intel Software

I had the chance to work on the Intel Software/Intel Developer Zone socials for years, with my favorite posts being the Dev Humor series where I’d ideate the concept, work with designers to make it happen, write the social copy, and get it approved by the client.

Along with the team, we helped grow their Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as took their Instagram page from relative obscurity to thriving social handle in just a year, thanks largely to bespoke humorous posts that tapped into a quirky and decidedly developer-focused mindset.

Here are a few of my favorite examples.

Autonomous Horse:

Classic Names:

Ultra Instinct Shaggy Sells Processors:

The Development Yak:

Intel Live

A big initiative our team worked on was Intel Live, a weekly live show that happened most Fridays and streamed across Discord, Twitch, and YouTube. I would help with writing social to promote the event, create and sometimes present community games for the hosts to play, and moderate the Discord chat specifically. Here are a few highlights:

11/7 Show – Social Written:

10/10 Show – Virtual or Reality Community Game Created:

10/31 Show – Fortnite or Fortnot Community Game Created and Hosted:

PowerA

Getting to work with PowerA was a joy as it allowed me to play around with controllers and other gaming accessories. I acted as a producer for their social accounts across X, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Bluesky, meaning ideating concepts, writing social, working with the design team on assets, getting client approval, scheduling, moderating, and reporting. During my time with the account, I helped grow their audience and specifically ensured that they maintained a regular posting cadence for the week. I also helped add both Threads and Bluesky to their social channels.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Pokémon Controller Randomizer:

Days of Future Past-Inspired OPS V1 and v3:

Pikachu Nano Controller:

PowerA Valentines:

All-Hands:

Heroku

I was gifted a chance to flex my technical writing skills for Heroku in their customer success stories. Our team would perform interviews, write these stories up, and revise per client requests. Here are a couple to share:

The Salesforce Data Migration Team Reached 99.8% Data Accuracy for M&A with Heroku

Softtrends: Driving Innovation for Faster, Cleaner Data with Heroku

Creative Writing

I’ve written a fair amount of scripts over the years, with a particular love of dialogue and character studies. Here are a few of the scripts I’m most proud of:

Knock-Knock (Batman Spec Script)

I Know You (Superman Spec Script)

The Duck Was Still Dead (Children’s Book Spec Script)

Redwall: Breakout (Choice-Driven Game Scenario)

Additional Examples

Here are a few rapid-fire work examples from the past:

Social Media Samples – Intel Software Upkeep

The Intel Developer Zone Facebook, Intel Software Twitter, and Intel Developer Zone Instagram handles required daily maintenance via client-requested materials. These handles were the most diverse in requests, meaning I’d handle topics such as webinars, contests, or game promotions, or deal with technologies as varied as the oneAPI toolkit or the OpenVINO toolkit at any given moment.

Social Media Samples – Intel Graphics Upkeep

The Intel Graphics handles were all relatively new within Intel, but providing weekly content across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram was important to build and sustain the Graphics community. This was done with announcements for game drivers, info about recent technologies such as the oneAPI toolkit, posts featuring Graphics Team members such as Raja Koduri, and general engagement posts and polls to generate raw engagement with the audience.

Social Media Samples – Intel AI Upkeep

The Intel AI Twitter and LinkedIn accounts required a different approach compared to Intel Software or Intel Graphics. The audience was much more focused, which helped to narrow down the tone into something more serious and straightforward to deliver messaging related to whitepages, solution briefs, and other educational content.

Social Media Samples – Intel Storage Upkeep

Even more specific still was the writing needed for the Intel Storage Twitter account. Storage was as technical as it came, meaning no nonsense, straight-to-the-point messaging. It’s still rewarding to jump into an account to help it grow, which daily content helps do at a wonderful rate.

Video Script Samples – The Intel AI interplanetary Challenge (playlist found here)

One of the most involved projects I did for Intel was the Intel AI Interplanetary Challenge featuring The Planetary Society’s Bill Nye and Robert Picardo. For the first six weeks of the challenge, new videos were created that highlighted various AI topics related to space travel, all of which came from scripts I’d written specifically for Bill and Robert to work from. The challenge also required social copy, newsletter copy, and website copy, though the most visually appealing parts to revisit are undoubtedly the videos.

Sweepstakes Sample – Gears Tactics Sweepstakes

Sweepstakes activations are a common project I worked on, which include social copy, newsletter copy, and website copy, seen here for the Gears Tactics Sweepstakes, an activation built to promote the launch of Gears Tactics on PCs and consoles. Activations such as these require careful attention to detail to ensure all partners are pleased with the result, in this instance meaning Intel, Microsoft, and Alienware.

Announcement Sample – The Planetary Society – Alien Report (unreleased)

Back in 2018, The Planetary Society was getting ready to launch a fundraiser for their Near-Earth Object detection efforts and wanted a fun way to announce it. What follows is a pitch that while well-received was ultimately passed on in favor of a different direction. Personally, I still really enjoyed working on this and find a ton of fun writing this sort of off-the-walls nonsense from time to time.

Good morning, and welcome to the news. I’m Thaj Puthagson, and today’s top story comes to us from the Earth History division of THE ONE TRUE NEWS NETWORK. As you all know, Earth was utterly ravaged thousands of years ago by asteroids, pelted over and over again like a rookie player of Gorch Ball. New research has uncovered some startling evidence that, while an asteroid strike was inevitable, the effect of it was not.

Recovered from an Earth computer circa 2018 of the pre-pre-calendar was a cached version of something called a “website.” Experts conclude that these were pages made of light displayed on primitive Overlord Boxes™ back before all data was digested through breakfast cereal. The information on the recovered website suggests it was a plea to Earthlings to support a planetary defense initiative, though not to be confused with the one implemented in 2083 PPC against the Goobernatorian invasion.

The organization making the plea has been identified as The Planetary Society, known to us today as The Galaxy Society & Frozen Yogurt Stand. They called upon concerned citizens to help with their Near-Earth Object detection and planetary defense efforts through monetary contributions, using the slogan “kick asteroids,” a phrase that experts claim is meant as a pun commonly made before lifeforms had evolved past the need for digestive systems for purposes other than information consumption.

Had Earthlings answered the call to action, Earth would have been saved. When pressed further whether that was true, experts concluded, “Probably.” Earth did contain all the necessary technology to make a difference but for one reason or another, Earthlings chose not to donate to the cause, perhaps feeling their money was better spent on new potato salad recipes and hats for small dogs.

Whatever the case, Earth was destroyed as a result of the Earthlings’ collective small-dog-hat-buying, and a once mighty planet was brought to its knees, and then the knees were exploded and spread across the galaxy at high velocity. A healthy reminder to us all to stay alert for asteroids and donate to any and all efforts to detect them.

SO SAYTH THE ONE TRUE NEWS NETWORK.

Thanks for joining us as part of your balanced breakfast.
